So What is Calm Mind Therapy?
A little more about me and the Calm Mind Therapy philosophy…
Over time I have treated fewer students at school, focusing on teaching and developing MFT Trainees and Associates. My philosophy for trainees was to ensure they learn some foundational therapeutic skills while developing a strong therapeutic alliance with their clients. I emphasize the importance of collaboration and working with parents to support their child while still maintaining client confidentiality. Collaboration with parents is just as important as working with the individual client. Working with kids has always been my focus.
As you can imagine I have come across dozens of clients and families who had been seeing a private practice therapist for years. Countless times I would have clients and parents opt to leave the fully licensed therapist to work my brand new MFT Trainee who is still in grad school!

1. Collaboration With Parents
When working with children and adolescents, parent collaboration matters. While confidentiality is important, therapists can often encourage and obtain permission from the child to involve parents in supportive ways. In my experience working in schools and therapy settings, most youth are open to parent involvement when approached thoughtfully. Collaboration strengthens communication, connection, and gives parents tools to better support their child.
2. Open Discussion About Diagnosis
Clients deserve honest conversations about diagnosis. Too often, people receive a diagnosis for insurance purposes without ever discussing it with their therapist. Diagnosis is not a dirty word — it can provide insight, guide treatment, and help clients better understand themselves and their needs. Therapy should include transparent discussions about what a therapist is seeing clinically and how that informs treatment.
3. Collaborative Treatment Goals
Therapy goals should be developed collaboratively, not decided solely by the therapist. Clients should clearly understand what they are working toward and how progress will be measured. Without defined goals, it becomes difficult to know whether therapy is effective or when treatment may be complete. Even goals like wanting support, processing emotions, or improving relationships are valid and should be openly discussed and agreed upon together.

I offer a warm and affirming space to explore the intersections of identity, culture, and relationships. As a multi-racial therapist, I understand the complexity of identity and the impact of systemic forces on our well-being. My work centers on helping you connect with all parts of yourself, embrace self-worth, and cultivate more authentic and nourishing relationships.
I support individuals navigating feelings of inadequacy, disconnection, or uncertainty, as well as families, couples, and other relational systems seeking greater intimacy, trust, and communication. I also specialize in supporting parents and caregivers to heal from their own childhood wounds and practice more mindful, compassionate parenting.
With lived experience of trauma and addiction, I take a harm-reduction, nonjudgmental approach to substance use and other addictive processes. Together we’ll uncover the roots of suffering, reduce harm, and co-create sustainable changes that foster connection and freedom.
Whether you’re seeking to heal, strengthen relationships, or deepen your authenticity, I’m here to walk with you toward greater self-compassion, belonging, and growth.

I'll be honored to walk beside you on this journey – a path of healing, of growth, of remembering yourself.
I work with individuals and couples navigating life's storms: the quiet ache of grief, the upheaval of transitions, the shadows of trauma, anxiety, depression, the echoes of childhood wounds, and the tangled threads of relationships.
Healing often begins with a simple conversation, a pause, a breath, a space to be seen and heard. Together, we'll explore the patterns that shape your heart, the stories that sculpt your emotions, and the invisible threads that connect your past to your present.
My approach is integrative, trauma-informed, and deeply human: attachment-based therapy, mindfulness, parts work (TIST), interpersonal neurobiology (IPNB), EMDR – each path chosen with your story in mind. Cultural humility guides me. This is a space where every identity, every experience, every part of you is honored.
I would be honored to help you rediscover joy, inner strength, and the beauty of meaningful connection.
